Verse of Vikings

Verse of Vikings is an immersive solo journaling RPG experience that blends elements of traditional Norse mythology with the art of poetry composition. Players assume the role of a Viking skald, a poet and storyteller, and draw on the symbolic power of Nordic runes to inspire and guide their verse creation.

In this game, you'll navigate through an array of character creation options that determine your bard's origin, divine patron, signature instrument, and muse. These choices further enrich your storytelling and verse-writing journey, adding depth and specificity to your skald's perspective and voice.

A chance roll of dice will determine the key elements of your poems – the themes, dictated by the meaning of Nordic runes; the number of lines; the use of rhyme; and the poetic meter. Players will be encouraged to incorporate the traditional Norse technique of kennings, enhancing the authenticity and thematic depth of their compositions.

Accompanying each poem, you can add a journal entry, providing a thoughtful reflection on the experiences that inspired your verse, your creative choices, and the impact of your poem on your skald's ongoing saga. Over time, you'll amass a collection of poems that tell a unique, dynamic story, charting the growth, struggles, and triumphs of your skaldic character.
